~

THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CWSED.
COMMISSION'S COMMENTS

Commissioner Wright expressed concern that if Plan C were used it would require a variance
and thus set the stage for a precedent. He was firmly opposed to that possibility. He
thought with some careful consideration Plan D might work.

Commissioner Michelotti suggested that the RV could be stored off-site, if nothing else can
be worked out. She could not support the plans as presented.

Commissioner Hovingh said the design that makes sense is Plan C, but he could not support
that plan. He felt Mr. Griffen's best choice was to choose between the "granny" unit and the
RV storage, but not try for both.

Chairman Mahern felt that Plan C would also be better, but could not support the concept.
She felt the applicant would have to redesign the plan to accommodate a one-story unit for
living quarters and the RV, and keep it close to the existing structure. If that were not
feasible, then he would have to make a choice between the two structures.

Commissioner McGuirk agreed with Chairman Mallern's comments and said he would
support staffs recommendation for denial.

~

Commissioner Horan said of the two plans he would favor Plan C, but could not support the
applicant. He suggested the applicant consider a single story for the RV and have the
"granny" flat use the basement area.

A motion was made by Commissioner Michelotti, seconded by Commissioner McGuirk for
denial without prejudice of Case UP-91-20, and denial of Case V-91-13.

ROLL CALL VOTE

AYES:
NOES:
ABSENT:
ABSTAIN:

Commissioners Horan, Hovingh, McGuirk, Michelotti, and Chairman Mahern
None
None
None

Resolution No. PC-91-53 was entered and adopted denying Case UP-91-20 as motioned.

Resolution No. PC-91-54 was entered and adopted denying Case V-91-13 as motioned.

Minutes Planning COmmission
August 28, 1991

Page 6

-
