MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS

Commissioner Barker inquired if the Ruby Hill signs could be covered until the problems are
resolved. She also reiterated that they have their logo on the City directional signs.
Commissioner Barker proposed that due to the fact that the Ruby Hill logo is on City
direction signs, the golf course be opened to Pleasanton residents' use one day a week at
reasonable green fees.

Commissioner Dove inquired about the use of Southern Pacific right of way and what
authority the City has over the tracks through town. Mr. Swift advised the County can
exercise certain activities within County property within the city limits irrespective of any
city zoning regulations. The City has asked them to clean up the easement, perform weed
abatement procedures, etc. City Council has gone on record not allowing light rail through
the City. He noted that there is an agreement with the County allowing the right of way to
be used by the exhibition railroad, and it is also part of the East Bay Regional Park District
Trail Master Plan. Commissioner Dove advised tracks are being installed behind the cars
between Angela and Neal.

Chairman Wright advised that two speed bumps have been installed at Gene's Fine Food
which are so high that cars bottom-out as they go over them. He inquired if any standards
exist for speed bumps. Mr. Swift did not know of any speed bump standards and surmised
that the shopping center owners installed the speed bumps.

Planning Commission Minutes

Page 3

December 14, 1994

-
