5. MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION

There were none.

~ PUBLIC HEARINGS

L UP-94-47. Pleasanton Community Church
Application to modify the conditional use permit for an existing church by relocating
Sunday school classrooms and church offices from 4455 Stoneridge Drive to the second
floor of the building located at 4439 Stoneridge Drive. The subject property, Stoneridge
Office Center, is located at the southeast corner of Stoneridge Drive and Santa Rita
Road. Zoning for the property is PUD (Planned Unit Development) - I (Industrial)
District.

Continued to 9/28/94.

b.. UP-94-S7. Gail Lew
Application for a non-exempt home occupation permit to extend the hours for piano
lessous previously-approved with a home occupation permit received in 1987. The
property is located at 2145 Camino Brazos. Zoning for the property is R-I-6S00
District.

~ Mr. Swift presented the staff report on the application to modify the home occupation permit
of Gail Lew, increasing her number of approved teaching hours. Her hours of operation
came to staff's attention through complaints that the home occupation was not run in
accordance with the previously approved conditions of approval. Ms. Lew has indicated that
if granted, she will conform to all conditions of approval. Staff is recommending that no
more than six lessons be taught per day in an attempt to limit the total amount of traffic in
the neighborhood. Student parking is restricted to the applicant's driveway. Mr. Swift noted
several home occupation permits have been granted for in-home piano teaching that have not
changed the character of their residential neighborhoods. A letter of support for the
application was distributed at the meeting.

In response to Commissioner McGuirk's question regarding a reduction in traffic, Mr. Swift
stated that the parking must be in the applicant's driveway. The idea of staggering the
classes by 1O-15 minutes was considered. Since Ms. Lew teaches only one student per
lesson, there are only two cars at the site at any given time. Staff feels parking in the
driveway will be sufficient. Staff commented that Ms. Lew did have multiple teachers and
students in her home at one time, however, this is no longer the case.

PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED

Gail Lew, 2145 Camino Brazos, represented her application. She stated that she has read
and approves of the staff report and the conditions of approval. Ms. Lew spoke about her

Planning Commission Minutes

Page 2

September 14, 1994
