These shrubs will screen the tree trunks.

Commissioner Barker inquired if the red colorboard example is the same red color as the
corporate color. Mr. Reid stated it was, although there may be a difference between a flat
and gloss enamel paint. U nisource plans to paint some building panels with different
painting schemes and will invite the Planning Department to view and make their choice.
Planning Department's approval will be the ultimate decision.

Commissioner McGuirk inquired if there are plans for internal circulation for entering and
exiting trucks. Mr. Reid stated the delivery trucks are given appointment times and dock
assignments, therefore, 13-14 trucks will not arrive at the same time. He also noted that
customer and employee parking is segregated from the truck dock area. The southern
loading dock is an infrequently used dock, perhaps one or two trucks a day.

Commissioner Barker asked Unisource to consider installing bike lockers for their bike-riding
employees.

PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED

From an architectural standpoint, Chairman Wright would like to see the downspouts
incorporated within the building walls. However, Chairman Wright does not feel this needs
to be made a condition of approval. He merely would like the suggestion noted by the
architects.

Commissioner McGuirk also feels external downspouts would detract from the overall
pleasing look of the building. He would like the downspouts within the building wall, or at
least minimized by being placed in the recessed portions of the building. He commended the
planners for their design of building, landscaping, benning, and cooperation with City staff.
Commissioner McGuirk supports this project and welcomes Unisource to Pleasanton.

Commissioner Dove thought that north and south traffic from 680 should use the Stoneridge
Drive exit instead of traversing over to 580/Hacienda Drive. However, traffic studies
suggest that the safest and least encumbered route would be the Hacienda Drive exit.

Commissioner Barker noted her support of this project.

Commissioner Lutz noted he had talked with Mark Sweeney and Dan Reid and thinks they
have done an excellent job. He also supports this project.

Chairman Wright is pleased to see Unisource come to Pleasanton and feels they will be an
asset to the community by providing more jobs to Pleasanton residents. Chairman Wright
supports this project.

Planning Commission Minutes

Page 8

August 31,1994
