In response to Chairman McGuirk, staff stated large boulders will be installed along the sides
of the canals and will be covered with soil and hydroseeded.

PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED.

Jim McKenzie, 7043 Corte Del Mar, stated his concern for his home, pool, spa and decking
being damaged from dust, debris and noise from the construction project. He is also
concerned that if the capacity of the canal is reduced, he faces a risk to flooding, in which
case he would be required to purchase flood insurance, as well as suffer decreased property
value.

PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED.

Chairman McGuirk inquired if the capacity could be reduced in the canal. Mr. Swift and
Mr. Hidgon advised the intention of Zone 7 is to keep the capacity the same. Mr. Higdon
stated they are taking out some material, and will improve the carrying capacity of the
channel. By putting in the boulders, covering with soil and hydroseeding, they will be
rebuilt to their original condition. Mr. Higdon stated Zone 7 has ownership of the property
and City of Pleasanton has very little control over the construction. He advised the speaker
to contact Zone 7 with his concerns.

Mr. Swift advised the City owns the land between the soundwall and the road long the canal
bank. Zone 7 would be responsible for any damage to stucco and decking.

A motion was made by Commissioner Hovingh, seconded by Commissioner Wright,
rmding the proposed arroyo rehabilitation project is consistent with the Pleasanton
General Plan.

ROLL CALL VOTE

AYES:
NOES:
ABSENT:
ABSTAIN:

Commissioners Hovingh, Michelotti, Finch, Wright and Chairman McGuirk
None
Commissioner Mahern
None

Resolution No. PC-94-11 was entered and adopted rmding the proposed arroyo
rehabilitation project is consistent with the Pleasanton General Plan.

7.
