Commissioner Wright commented he had concern with freeway and pylon signs that could
have either direct, indirect, or internally illuminated signage. He would like to take
illumination away from signs on the rear of buildings facing the freeway.

Mr. Swift stated the number is limited to four tenant signs to a pylon sign. Staff is
compromising by allowing the illuminated signs, though the buildings will also be
illuminated. Commissioner Wright can concur with that since it is so specified.

Commissioner Hovingh commented that he does not like the use of flags and hot air
balloons, especially visible to the freeway. Mr. Swift stated they are allowable only for
grand openings.

Regarding landscaping, Commissioner Wright would like to see a restriction to disallow
grouping two 70 foot parking lot view corridors together. He would like to see a maximum
of four parking spaces in a view corridor, whether they are handicapped or normal spots.

Commissioner Hovingh stated his concern over the height of the pylon signs at 35 feet as
well as the relaxation of the number of parking lot trees.

PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED.

A motion was made by Commissioner Michelotti, seconded by Commissioner Wright,
approving and forwarding to the City Council Case PUD-81-30-28M/PUD-85-8-10M, subject
to the conditions listed in Exhibit "B," with the following modification:

Condition M 3.5 F -- no two view corridors can be adjacent to one another.

ROLL CALL VOTE

AYES:
NOES:
ABSENT:
ABSTAIN:

Commissioners Michelotti, Finch, Wright and Chairman McGuirk
Commissioner Hovingh
Commissioner Mahern
None

Resolution No. PC-94-10 was entered and adopted approving Case PUD-81-30-28M/
PUD-85-8-10M as motioned.

f.
