<br />Commissioner Michelotti commented that the flower pots downtown do not look like those <br />approved by the Commission. Mr. lserson advised that the City Council approved the <br />current design. He also noted that four planting schemes had been approved, and the <br />planters are to be planted soon. <br /> <br />Commissioner Michelotti showed a picture of Boston's new underground freeway and passed <br />it along to staff. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hovingh commented that Muirwood sidewalks are in very poor condition and <br />need to be replaced. <br /> <br />A discussion ensued regarding whether the trees in neighborhood parking strips are the <br />property of the homeowner or the City. Mr. Beougher advised that the trees are the property <br />of the homeowner, and the homeowner is responsible for the damage caused by the trees to <br />the sidewalks. Action.~ of the Zon;n!!: Adm;nidrntor <br />There were none. <br /> <br />~ Intere.q in havin!!: subcommittee DarticiDatiOD in various DlanniD!!: studies <br /> <br />Mr. Iserson presented the staff's thoughts on forming task groups to review outdated <br />ordinances regarding residential accessory structures, signs, and commercial/industrial uses. <br /> <br />After a discussion among the Commissioners of their particular interests, it was decided that <br />Chairman McGuirk and Commissioner Hovingh will work on the task group studying <br />commercial/industrial uses; Commissioners Michelotti and Mahem will work on the sign task <br />group; and Commissioners Wright and Finch will work on the task group regarding <br />accessory structures. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hovingh commented that freeway signs indicating the restaurants and gas <br />stations at freeway exits (such as those in Oregon and Washington) were helpful and less <br />obtrusive than pylon signs. <br /> <br />Planning COmmission Minutes <br /> <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />January 26, 1994 <br />
