Commissioner Michelotti commented that the flower pots downtown do not look like those approved by the Commission. Mr. lserson advised that the City Council approved the current design. He also noted that four planting schemes had been approved, and the planters are to be planted soon. Commissioner Michelotti showed a picture of Boston's new underground freeway and passed it along to staff. Commissioner Hovingh commented that Muirwood sidewalks are in very poor condition and need to be replaced. A discussion ensued regarding whether the trees in neighborhood parking strips are the property of the homeowner or the City. Mr. Beougher advised that the trees are the property of the homeowner, and the homeowner is responsible for the damage caused by the trees to the sidewalks. Therefore, the homeowner has the right to remove the trees as long as they are not heritage trees. 8.. MATTERS FOR COMMISSION'S REVIEW There were none. k.. After a discussion among the Commissioners of their particular interests, it was decided that Chairman McGuirk and Commissioner Hovingh will work on the task group studying commercial/industrial uses; Commissioners Michelotti and Mahem will work on the sign task group; and Commissioners Wright and Finch will work on the task group regarding accessory structures. Commissioner Hovingh commented that freeway signs indicating the restaurants and gas stations at freeway exits (such as those in Oregon and Washington) were helpful and less obtrusive than pylon signs.
