Review of the South LivenDore Valley Al!:ricultural Land Trust Steerlnl!: Committee Presentation Mr. Swift introduced the topic of the South Livermore Valley Agricultural Land Trust and asked Commissioner Michelotti, who has been a committee member, to explain the Committee's recommendation. Commissioner Michelotti stated she has been involved with this committee for three or four years, and the committee has finally come to the recommendation of setting up land trusts. One issue bypassed by the steering committee in their final recommendation was that the Land Trust Committee should be made up of non-elected officials. The steering committee will end once they appoint two members to the Land Trust Committee. After the City reviews this recommendation, it will go back to the Board of Supervisors. There was no public testimony given on this recommendation. In response to Commissioner Wright, Commissioner Michelotti stated that the Land Trust Committee has yet to be established and by-laws need to be written. The concept is that the monies from the Trust be used to acquire open space and promote viticulture. In addition, the plan also calls for complementary uses such as bed and breakfasts and some commercial/retail. Mr. Swift further explained that the land could be acquired in fee title or with a conservation easement. A motion was made by Commissioner Ymch, seconded by Commi...~ioner Wright, recommending the City Council approve and recommend that the Board of Supervisors ratify the final document for the Land Trust, with the provision made by the County Planning commission that elected officials not be appointed to the Board of Directors.
