<br />~ <br /> <br />mE PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED. <br /> <br />Robert Liu, 2522 Corte Bella, represented the application. He prese ted information <br />regarding the background of the church and described the church's 0 ration. He noted that <br />in addition to the church activities they also provide Chinese languag classes and other <br />various community services. He stated that he feels the recommen 'on made in the staff <br />report is something they can work with. He asked that some flexib' ty be given in <br />Condition #11 which prohibits any outside activities. He noted that ionally youth <br />members of the church would like to have a fund-raising car wash 0 Sundays following <br />church services. He suggested that the condition be amended to rea : "No reoccurring <br />outdoor activities shall be allowed at any time. " <br /> <br />Commissioner Michelotti asked if space is available in the front of e building to have this <br />type of activity. Mr. Liu advised that space is available on the stree side of the building <br />away from the residential neighborhood. He further advised that onl two such activities had <br />been held in the last few years. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wright suggested that the rear doors be labelled for e ergency use only and <br />that the outside door handle be removed, with key-access only. He so asked if the metal <br />sliding gate will be removed. Mr. Liu stated that he was not sure if the gate would be <br />removed. <br /> <br />Commissioner Mahern expressed concern about the use of the word reoccurring" as it <br />would only allow an event to happen one time. <br /> <br />Commissioner Pinch stated that he would not like to see time limits r restrictions on the <br />location placed on the outdoor activities. <br /> <br />In response to Chairman Hovingh's question, Mr. Liu advised that a contractor would be <br />hired to do the tenant improvements. <br /> <br />David Sell, Pastor of the Pleasanton Community Church, 1049 Crell Road, spoke in <br />support of the Tri-Valley Chinese Bible Church. He stated that he ti Is the church will be <br />meeting a definite need that other churches are not meeting. He ad 'sed that the applicants <br />are currently renting the Pleasanton Community Church facility, and that they are very happy <br />with them. <br /> <br />Robert Wu, 3112 Paseo Granada, stated that he feels the church pro 'des valuable services <br />and support for the community. <br /> <br /> <br />Simon Poon, 1589 Maple Leaf Drive, noted that he is not a church ember, but that his <br />children are enrolled in the Chinese language school.
