,-- Commissioner Michelotti stated that she has talked to the City Atto ey in regard to a conflict of interest. He has told her that she would have no conflict regard to signage. Mr. Iserson presented the staff report recommending approval of RZ 93-1 subject to the conditions of the staff report. Commissioner Mahern asked if there would be any limit as to how uch signage would go up. For example, could a business put up an A-frame sign, a banne , and window signs? She expressed concern that the downtown area would become surfei with signage during construction time. Mr. Iserson stated that because of the temporary ture of the relaxed sign regulations a business would be able to use the maximum signa available. He did not think there would be a problem. Commissioner McGuirk asked the size of the A-frame signs. would be the size of a realtor's sign. an Hovingh said they Commissioner McGuirk expressed some concern that once the cons ction is over that some businesses might continue to exhibit an overabundance of signage. . Iserson stated that pictures will be taken before signage goes up and that staff is aware f what signage was existing before construction and what has been temporarily allowed d ring construction only. THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED. -- No one spoke for or against the application. THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED. Commissioner Michelotti thought that some of the businesses on the ide streets would have been concerned about lack of signage. However, since no one spoke tonight, she assumed they were comfortable with the conclusion. She further commented at she had come downtown at 5:00 p.m. and that everything was very neat. She felt e contractor is doing an excellent job of trying to be neat and putting equipment away at ght. It appeared that business owners were pleased. Commissioner Mahern said she has also heard comments from busin s owners that the construction is progressing with a minimum of inconvenience to the and shoppers. Commissioner McGuirk asked Mr. Iserson how they got word to bu construction. Mr. Iserson said staff mailed out over 900 notices to owners and they were well informed.
