Since then they have done additional studies this year; had consultati ns with the City's
consultant; and performed a detailed investigation of deep drillings d borings. They came
up with the conclusion regarding the ancient landslide that it could tentially reform a few
inches, but yet was stable. They found with recent slides that only 0 of them needed to be
repaired under static conditions. They have since consulted again wi the City's geologist
and also with other experts in the field. Their final conclusion from the recent studies was
that the ancient landslide would undergo no deformation under seis c conditions and that it
would be safe to build on the ancient landslide site as they had pro sed to build.

Mr. Makdessi stated that he feels Terrasearch's conclusion has been ubstantiated by a great
deal of study and research. On the other hand he felt the conclusion drawn by staff that the
ancient landslide is not completely safe to build upon is unsubstantia

Commissioner Finch questioned whether Mr. Makdessi's research 0
has noted any movement in the last 30 years. Mr. Makd si explained they would
have to have many, many years of very heavy rainfall that might ch ge the ground water
level before the slide plane would be affected. In addition, the soil mpaction on the site is
such that it would take many years for rainfall to have an affect.

pies were taken on the
of the ancient

Chairman Hovingh questioned Mr. Makdessi as to where the bore
site.
