In response to Commissioner Finch's question, Mr. Salmon stated he is in agreement with all the Conditions of Approval, and if required to do so, would agree to take the top off the pavilion. He also was eager to keep the neighbors happy. Commissioner Mahern discussed the location of the mechanical equi ent with Mr. Salmon. Mr. Salmon noted that it is self-contained and specially wired for the spa. Commissioner Michelotti and Commissioner McGuirk questioned Mr Salmon as to why he put the deck on the selected place. Mr. Salmon said it was really b use it was the most level spot on the hill. He was not sure whether there would have n enough space anywhere else in his yard. Commissioner McGuirk questioned staff as to whether the recommen ed eucalyptus trees are very susceptible to freezing. Mr. Swift replied that the Eucalyptus g bulus "compacta" trees were one of the harder breeds and do not normally freeze. A very h d freeze could appear to kill them, but cited cases in Oakland where many Eucalyptus were cut down that were not actually dead.
