Mr. Rasmussen presented the staff report, and recommended that the ommission adopt the proposed assisted housing analysis and Housing Element update provi ions contained in the Supplement to the Housing Element-3: Preservation of Assisted Hous' g. Mr. Rasmussen suggested as the contracted properties are close to te tion that the City could approach the various owners of assisted rental housing develop ents to see if they are willing to make some kind of arrangements so existing tenants can co tinue to afford the housing. He noted that one solution might be to offer the property 0 ers some kind of incentives, such as rehabilitation funds and low interest loans. Mr. smussen advised that the City is trying very hard to be creative in dealing with this issue. Commissioner Michelotti asked Mr. Rasmussen whether the landlord s required to help a tenant who might be displaced once the subsidized payments are te . ated. Mr. Rasmussen did not feel that is the case at this time. Commissioner Michelotti su gested that in the future this could be a requirement that the displaced person be given me type of assistance. Commissioner McGuirk called attention to Policy 24.8 on page 13 in egard to the wording of "assistance."
