Mr. Freedman indicated that angled p king should provide a <br />small increase in parking space. <br /> <br />Commissioner Horan asked Mr. Freedman how many companies se I the interlocking pavers <br />and whether it would be difficult to get them, should they decide to go that way. Mr. <br />Freedman replied there is plenty of competition on the pavers and e should have no <br />problem getting them. <br /> <br />Commissioner McGuirk discussed the lighting with Mr. Freedman d felt that for early <br />evening dining, more lighting would be required than presently exis . Mr. Freedman <br />advised the existing street lighting could be switched from the front of Main Street to the <br />side streets; this was not a necessity and they could be adequate as ey are now. However, <br />Mr. Freedman advised that a "tree" light would be more appropriat to provide lighting for <br />dining or sidewalk purposes, as well as street lighting. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Commissioner McGuirk further questioned Mr. Freedman as to the oncept of the flexible <br />zone and said he understood that a merchant could "opt" to have a exible zone in front of <br />his business. Mr. Freedman agreed a merchant could choose use flexible zone for dining <br />or to rtain the parking; however, this has not all been figured out y t. He felt that a <br />"flexible ordinance" would have to be created. <br /> <br />Commissioner McGuirk expressed concern about cars going by whi e people are dining and <br />felt people would object to that. Mr. Freedman noted that the conc pt is used a lot in <br />European countries and people appear to like it a lot. <br /> <br />Commissioner Mahem commented that she liked the Mountain Vie renovation and how <br />they were doing their downtown area; however, she expressed con m that while parking, <br />fumes would go directly into the dining areas. She recommended at parking situated near a <br />dining area be designated to eliminate fumes as much as possible. r. Freedman responded <br />that a buffer of planters/flower pots could be installed to alleviate t problem. He noted <br />that this is a changeable aspect and further recommended that the C ty pay for the planters so <br />that they would have some kind of control, or the merchant could p rchase them and the <br />City could be reimbursed at some point. <br /> <br />Chairman Hovingh asked for clarification as to the cost of Option . Mr. Freedman noted <br />that Option C could be done for about the same cost as Option A. <br /> <br />Mr. lserson clarified that none of the options include irrigation on 'n Street.
