MICHEAL SHAVELSON
· As father of a soccer player, football player and lacross player, I love seeing the multi-use
fields.

· The Alternative I states all the fields will be lighted, I want to be sure that in Alternative 2
also has lighted fields.

· I second the idea that turf fields are important.

EILEEN FORMEN
· Will there be similar a planning process and public input for the Westside of the property as
there is for this?

JACK SEAVERTING (Lacrosse Player) · Our fields have holes and weeds from which we get injuries.

· Baseball and soccer have 5 fields and we only have one that is very hard to play on.

· The opposing teams all have lighted turf fields, so we feel like we're not as good as them
because we don't have those kind of fields. It's a little embarrassing.

SCOTT CHECKER (VP Chair of Youth Master Plan)
· I'm speaking for myself, not any of the committees. There definitely needs to be a
teen/youth center on the property and it needs to be a part of the park, not across the
street. Teens should be able to go right outside to use the fields instead of having to cross a
busy street.

· I play lacrosse and it's so much better to play on turf fields because you don't have to worry
about spraining your ankle due to a hole (like in grass fields) and you can play in the rain
without getting muddy.

RICH MITCHELL (Pony Baseball)
· We have 500 kids that play in Pleasanton and only have one baseball field allocated for us.
We need five or at least four fields for games and practice in order to accommodate all the
kids in our program. Otherwise kids are practicing in unsafe or inappropriate places like
parking lots and small neighborhood parks.

· I helped develop the "Third Draft" alternative (Alternative 2) and that will give us I0 lighted
fields that we need to accommodate all the kids playing baseball as well as other spor~s. I
think this is the best alternative. It's critical that we get all these fields because baseball is
now competing with soccer and lacrosse and everyone needs a place to practice. Currently,
all the fields are being used for games

· Fields are taking a beating from overuse.

Bernal Property Town Meeting ISummaryReport-Ap~illl, 200S Page 13
