PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALJ:FORNIA

RESOLUTION NO. PC-92-S9

RESOLUTJ:ON APPROVJ:NG A CONDJ:TJ:ONAL USE PERMJ:T AS FJ:LED UNDER
CASE UP-91-10 FOR PLEASANT ON GARBAGE SERVICE

WHEREAS, Pleasanton Garbage Service, Inc. has applied for a
conditional use permit for a reCYCling processing
facility and for expansion of waste transfer station
operations to include a recycling buy-back center; and
review of the following uses: tire sales and service,
truck and heavy equipment repair, street sweeping
services, sewage pumping services, and a rental service
for storage sheds and portable toilets, located at 3110
Busch Road; and

WHEREAS, zoning for the property is I-G (General Industrial)
District; and

WHEREAS, at their duly noticed public hearing of July 8, 1992, the
Planning commission considered all public testimony,
relevant exhibits and recommendations of the city staff
concerning this application; and approved a negative
declaration prepared for Case UP-9l-10; and

WHEREAS, the Planning commission made the following findings:

1. The proposed location of the conditional use is in
accordance with the objectives of the zoning
ordinance and the purpose of the district in which
the site is located.

The proposed expansion of the waste transfer
station operations to include a recycling buy-back
center and a mechanized recycling facility for the
sorting of waste is a logical extension of the
station's existing operations. The site is zoned
for general industrial-type uses, or those uses
which are industrially intensive in nature. The
objective of the industrially-zoned districts is to
reserve areas for industrial plants and to protect
residential uses and nuisance-free commercial uses
from the noise, odor, dust, truck-traffic, etc.
associated with industrial uses. The site is
located well away from any residential use, and the
uses proposed are unsuitable for any other zoning
district.
