<br />EXHIBIT A <br /> <br />Proposed Draft Ordinance <br />of the <br />Pleasanton Municipal Code <br />Case RZ-93-1 <br />(March 24, 1993) <br /> <br />The following new section is proposed to be added to Chapter <br />18.74 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code (Downtown Revitalization <br />District): <br /> <br />18.74.250 <br /> <br />Temporary Main street Construction Signs <br /> <br />A. The following types of signs are permitted for all Main <br />street businesses during the Main street Reconstruction project. <br />For purposes of this section, Main street businesses are those <br />located on lots which have direct vehicular or pedestrian access <br />onto Main street. <br /> <br />1. Banners. Banners advertising special promotions or sales <br />are allowed on the front or back of buildings and business <br />identification banners are allowed only on the back of <br />buildings. Banners shall not exceed two feet in width and <br />shall not extend for more than eighty per cent of the width <br />of the business storefront. No more than two such banners <br />are allowed for each business: one on the front and one on <br />the back of a building. <br />2. Temporary Freestanding Signs. Temporary freestanding signs <br />may be erected within a landscaped area or parking lot <br />behind or next to a building. Such signs shall be limited <br />to business identification or directional signs, shall be <br />non-illuminated or indirectly illuminated, and shall not <br />exceed four feet in height above the ground. <br />3. A-Frame Signs. A-frame signs are allowed in the public <br />sidewalk area for business identification and/or to <br />advertise special events or sales, but not to advertise a <br />special product or service. One A-frame sign per business <br />is allowed limited to a vertical dimension of thirty-six <br />inches, a horizontal dimension of twenty-four inches, and a <br />total height of forty-eight inches above the ground. Such <br />signs shall be located no closer than twenty feet from a <br />side street curb and two feet from the Main street curb; on <br />blocks where the street or sidewalks are under construction, <br />these signs may be placed in the parking lane or where <br />pedestrian access is provided as long as they do not hinder <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />II <br />
