<br />PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. PC-92-38 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT AS FILED UNDER <br />CASE UP-92-16 FOR KATHERINE K. LAKE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Katherine M. Lake has applied for a conditional use <br />permit to establish a therapeutic massage studio located <br />at 739 Main street; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, zoning for the property is C-C (Central Commercial) <br />Downtown Revitalization District; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at their duly noticed public hearing of May 13, 1992, the <br />Planning commission considered all public testimony, <br />relevant exhibits and recommendations of the city staff <br />concerning this application; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning commission made the following findings: <br /> <br />A. The proposed location of the conditional use is in <br />accordance with the objectives of the zoning <br />ordinance and the purpose of the district in which <br />the site is located. <br /> <br />Some of the objectives of the zoning ordinance are <br />to: foster a harmonious, convenient, workable <br />relationship among land uses, protect existing land <br />uses from inharmonious influences and harmful <br />intrusions, and to insure that public and private <br />lands ultimately are used for the purposes which <br />are most appropriate and beneficial to the City as <br />a whole. The proposed massage studio use would be <br />consistent with these objectives. <br /> <br />The subject building is located in the C-C (Central <br />Commercial) Downtown Revitalization District. Some <br />purposes of the Downtown Revitalization District <br />are to: deter the inappropriate demolition, <br />destruction, alteration, or misuse of <br />architecturally interesting and significant <br />structures in the Downtown, revitalize the economic <br />growth and health of and foster civic pride in the <br />Downtown, and stabilize and enhance the value of <br />property. <br /> <br />As proposed, the massage studio will not alter in <br />any way the approved exterior of the Los Pilares <br />building so as to detract from its development <br />standards. In addition, the massage studio will <br />not interfere with surrounding uses' ability to <br />
