<br />b. Protect roots of heritage trees through measures suggested <br />in the Heritage Tree Ordinance and the project landscape <br />guidelines. A qualified arborist should be present during <br />road grading activities to suggest and perform measures <br />necessary to preserve trees. Trees which are to be <br />preserved shall have fences constructed around the entire <br />tree at the dripline prior to grading and construction <br />activities and shall be maintained through the duration of <br />grading and construction activities. (modification of MM <br />6a) <br /> <br />c. No more than three additional heritage trees may be removed <br />due to roadway grading and construction, building pad <br />grading and other site preparation activities, not <br />including landslide repair measures. (MM 6b) <br /> <br />d. Lot 61: Removed trees shall be replaced at a six to one <br />ratio with local native species, in a variety of sizes <br />ranging from 15-gallon to 36-inch box. These trees shall <br />be located along the westerly and northerly property lines <br />to help screen the proposed house, provide privacy for the <br />adjacent neighbor and to re-establish the biotic balance of <br />the tree stand. These trees shall be installed prior to <br />occupation of the home. (MM 6c, part 2) <br />e. All trees, but especially the heritage and smaller oak <br />trees, shall be preserved to the greatest extent possible. <br />Tree preservation measures shall be outlined in a Tree <br />Preservation Plan, to be prepared by a qualified arborist, <br />and approved by City staff. Where removal of trees for <br />construction or grading for home sites is unavoidable, <br />trees shall be replaced at a six-to-one ration, with the <br />replacement trees to be a combination of native l5-gallon, <br />36-inch and 48-inch box trees. These trees shall be <br />located so as to screen the proposed homes from view, and <br />to re-establish any biotic relationships with the existing <br />stands of trees from trees were removed. (MM 6d) <br /> <br />f. In all cases where a heritage tree is incorporated within <br />the lot and street landscaping of the development, or a <br />heritage tree occurs immediately adjacent to a site <br />designated for grading, no grading or vehicle soil <br />compaction shall occur within four feet of the outer leaf <br />circumference of the tree. Trees which are to be preserved <br />shall have fences constructed around the entire tree at the <br />dripline prior to grading and construction activities and <br />shall be maintained through the duration of grading and <br />construction activities. This zone shall be identified <br />plainly by a series of four foot high stakes flagged with <br />orange tape and placed at 6 foot intervals around this <br />zone. In addition, no high use human activities shall be <br />placed under large heritage oaks (this restriction also <br />shall be incorporated into the project landscape guidelines <br />and homeowners' CC&Rs). <br />
