Service and Operations Description <br /> <br /> Thc City of Pleasanton Paratransit Service provides transportation to <br /> Plcasanton/Sunol senior residents 60 years or older, and to disabled residents of <br /> any age. The purpose of this program is to reduce isolation, increase socialization <br /> and encourage independent living, thereby minimizing thc need for <br /> institutionalization and enhancing thc quality of life for residents no longer able to <br /> drive or those who do not have a car available to them. This program provides <br /> door-to-door, driver-assisted transportation. A client application is required to <br /> participate in the service. (See Attachment A) <br /> <br /> The Pleasanton Paratransit Service fleet includes one (1) van and six (6) mini- <br /> buses/vans. This demand-responsive service is available Monday through Friday, <br /> 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturdays, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. There are six (6) <br /> drivers scheduled on weekdays and two (2) drivers on Saturday. The service does <br /> not operate on Sunday. <br /> <br /> The fare structure is divided into two areas of service: (1) In-town service, and <br /> (2) Out-of-town service. (See Attachment B). Pleasanton residents pay $2.00 for <br /> in-town service and $2.50 for out-of-town service. Residents living in Sunol and <br /> the unincorporated areas of Pleasanton pay $2.50 for in-town service and $3.00 <br /> for out-of-town service. Rider punch cards are sold for $20.00 and $25.00, and <br /> are purchased in advance through the Paratransit Office. Drivers punch the client <br /> card according to the destination. The City of Pleasanton maintains a resident <br /> scholarship program for all residents that meet the Federal Housing and Urban <br /> Development (HUD) income guidelines. Seniors who are eligible may ride at a <br /> 50% discount. <br /> <br /> Statistical record keeping is done through Schedule Pro, an automated scheduling <br /> and records management software. Records are kept on clients transported, <br /> escorts/guests transported, lift-assisted trips, in-service miles, in-service hours, <br /> cancellations, trip purpose, rides per hour, on-time performance, and denials. <br /> This data is submitted quarterly to MTC as part of the funding requirements. <br /> <br /> <br />
