<br />PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. PC-95-63 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION OF MICHELLE ST. JOHN- <br />BIDDLE FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT TO OPERATE A RETAIL STORE <br />AS FILED UNDER CASE UP-95-53 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Michelle st. John-Biddle has applied for a conditional <br />use permit to operate a retail store selling secondhand <br />kitchenwares, home decorating items, art work, and <br />clothing as part of a retail store selling new items <br />located at 690-A Main street; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />zoning for the property is C-C <br />District, Downtown Revitalization <br />Overlay District; and <br /> <br />(Central Commercial) <br />Distr ict, and Core Area <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at their duly noticed public hearing of <br />September 13, 1995, the Planning Commission considered <br />all public testimony, relevant exhibits and <br />recommendations of the City staff concerning this <br />application; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission made the following findings: <br /> <br />A. The proposed location of the conditional use is in <br />accordance with the objectives of the zoning <br />ordinance and the purpose of the district in which <br />the site is located. <br /> <br />Some of the objectives of the zoning ordinance are <br />to: foster a harmonious, convenient, workable <br />relationship among land uses; protect existing land <br />uses from inharmonious influences and harmful <br />intrusions; and to insure that public and private <br />lands ultimately are used for the purposes which <br />are most appropriate and beneficial to the City as <br />a whole. Staff feels that, based on the <br />applicant's statement of operations and staff's <br />proposed conditions of approval, the "Brag About" <br />store would be consistent with these objectives in <br />that it would provide a service to the community <br />and would be conducted so as to not impact or <br />interfere with surrounding businesses. <br /> <br />The building at 690 Main Street is located in a <br />Centra 1 Commerc ia 1, Core Area Over lay, Downtown <br />Revitalization District. Some purposes of the <br />Downtown Revitalization District are to: deter the <br />inappropriate demolition, destruction, alteration, <br />or misuse of architecturally interesting and <br />
