Commissioner Hovingh noted a report put out by the Planning Commission of Alameda
County stating the job/housing balance should include housing prices that reflect the spectrum
of wages within an area. He also feels that no project on the SFWD property does not
necessarily mean there will be no environmental impact. He asked if the enviornmental
impact to the Central Valley will be addressed if no project is developed on the SFWD
property. The addition of homes in the Central Valley will take up prime agricultural land,
will increase the load on the infrastructure, and will contribute to decreased air quality.
Commissioner Hovingh believes this would help reduce the number of people commuting
great distances to work, and therefore, it may be worthwhile considering putting this type of
housing on the SFWD property.

PUBLIC HEARING WAS RE-OPENED

Bob Cordtz commented about the traffic reports and that 1-680 will be gridlocked with or
without a project being built on this site.

PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED

Chairman Wright thanked Mr. Nelson and Ms. Ambrose for their input to the Planning
Commission meeting.

A motion was made by Commissioner Hovingh, seconded by Commissioner Lutz,
recommending continuing action on Case RZ-94-07 to May 24, 1995.

ROLL CALL VOTE

AYES:
NOES:
ABSENT:
ABSTAIN:

Commissioners Barker, Dove, Hovingh, Lutz, and Chairman Wright
None
Commissioner McGuirk
None

1...
