Ms. Kline noted that staff planner, Jenny Soo, contacted the San Ramon salon and found
out that there were two salons that wished to offer beer and wine sales there. The City of
San Ramon considered those sales an ancillary use and did not require a conditional use
permit. She added that Danville has such a salon as well. Any other business that
requested such a use would be subject to a conditional use permit review on a
case-by-case basis.
THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED.
Karen Marcum, applicant, 4001 Santa Rita Road, noted that different wines would be
featured from day to day and it would be available to taste. That wine would be available
for sale if they wished, and they would not be able to walk around the salon with the
alcohol. She added that the intent was not to drink to excess and that it was intended to
enhance the salon experience before they received their services. The music would be
low-key and unobtrusive. She noted that the salon also serves coffee, tea, and water
while the patrons receive the salon services.
THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED.
Commissioner Arkin moved to make the conditional use findings as listed in the
staff report and to approve Case PCUP-127 as conditioned in the staff report.
Commissioner Maas seconded the motion.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
AYES: Commissioners Arkin, Kameny, Maas, Roberts, and Sullivan.
NOES: None.
ABSTAIN: None.
RECUSED: None.
ABSENT: None.
Resolution No. PC-2004-61 was entered and adopted as motioned.
c.
