Staples Ranch <br />Senior complex <br />• Stoneridge Drive dead-end or no extension <br />^ Consider Livermore Airport noise and safety impacts and other airport protection area <br />issues <br />^ Information on whether senior complex would count towards regional fair share housing <br />need numbers. <br />Hanson/Kiewit <br />^ Need for General Plan designation for areas no longer being quarried <br />^ Transit-oriented development <br />• Study on traffic generated by the proposed project <br />Kaiser Hospital and DSRSD sites <br />^ Smart-growth development, next to already existing retail and access to two freeways <br />• Fall-back sites <br />The Commission then discussed the Vintage Hills Shopping Center proposal and made the <br />following comments: <br />^ No interest in the expedited process; go through the normal process without the pressure <br />of meeting the 2006 ABAG deadline <br />^ Would like to see the General Plan scope as a whole; would not want to take away <br />opportunities for other sites by approving this project ahead of the others <br />Consider as stand-alone project with no strings attached; concern about affordable <br />housing units tie-in to another project <br />^ Do what makes sense for the City as a whole, not only for the present but for the future as <br />well <br />^ Presence of neighborhood opposition <br />• Appropriate for commercial development with lack of retail in the area and far from <br />freeway <br />The Commission also indicated that it would like to see more of the entry-level, middle-of-the- <br />road single-family homes that would be affordable for the workforce group and returning young <br />families. <br />b. Schedule of Future Meetines <br />Chairperson Roberts informed the Commission that the Council would like to hold a joint City <br />Council-Planning Commission EIR scoping workshop for the Kottinger Hills Oak Grove project. <br />She stated that there is a scheduled possible joint session with the Council on June 29a' and that <br />this workshop could be held on that day. <br />The next General Plan meeting is scheduled for June 16, 2004, to discuss the Hacienda Park <br />sites. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION GENERAL PLAN UPDATE MINUTES, 5/19/2004 Page 7 of 8 <br />
