7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS <br />Borders/Kohl's Driveway <br />Commissioner Maas noted that while visiting Borders, some of the salespeople did not <br />object to the construction. However, they were disappointed with the driveway blockage, <br />and she inquired whether staff could expedite re-opening that driveway. She did not <br />want to see Borders go out of business because of that obstruction. <br />Mr. Iserson noted that he would check into that issue and added that the construction azea <br />may not endanger any passersby. <br />328 Saint Marv's Street <br />Commissioner Maas noted that James Byrd had submitted an application for the design <br />review for his building at 328 Saint Mary's Street. She inquired whether the City could <br />move the application ahead because the existing storefront was an eyesore. <br />Mr. Iserson noted that staff was working closely with the applicant and that the <br />application should come before the Commission soon. <br />Commissioner Arkin concurred with Commissioner Maas's concerns. <br />Blue Agave <br />In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Arkin, Mr. Iserson noted that Blue Agave has <br />submitted several plans and has changed them several times. He noted that the project <br />would come before the Commission because it was in a visible location. <br />Celebration. Florida <br />Chairperson Roberts noted that she had visited Celebration, Florida, which had been <br />brought up during the Bernal Property. She noted that on a Saturday afternoon, she saw <br />one child on a skateboard, a few people in electric cars, and no one azound the apartments <br />or walking azound the pond. She was surprised to find that no one was in sight on a <br />Saturday afternoon. She noted that he homes were lovely and that the landscaping was <br />very well-maintained. She noted that Pleasanton's Downtown was more attractive and <br />vital. She believed that the community had been over-planned and that even the flower <br />colors were required to be approved. <br />Chairperson Roberts had read an article about discrimination against families in Florida <br />by building senior housing.
