~.
ON THE AGENDA.
Bernal Corners Service Station
In response to a question by Theresa Moore, Mr. Iserson confirmed that the lighting of Bernal
Corners Service Station was not on the agenda. He noted that only the sign had been noticed and
not all of the issues could be acted on at this meeting.
Commissioner Sullivan inquired whether the revocation of the conditional use permit could be
discussed at this hearing. Mr. Iserson advised that it would be best to discuss that issue when the
use permit and PUD are fully noticed.
Donald Lee, 1698 Whispering Oak, stated that the field next to the car wash/gas station near the
day care site had been plowed recently and created a great deal of dust which settled in his
house. He inquired whether it could be watered or otherwise treated to avoid that condition.
Chairperson Roberts advised that the field had been plowed once for fire protection.
Mr. Iserson advised that the City-owned land had been disked for weed abatement, and added
that the matter would be referred to the Parks Department.
- Mr. Grubstick advised that the Parks Department recently disked the weeds and added that it was
level dirt following the removal. He noted that palliatives could be added to the surface that
could hold the dirt down on this lot.
Theresa Moore noted that she lived behind Mr. Lee and added that people had been using the
property for some time to cross from East Gateway to Valley Avenue. She stated that they did
not buy their homes on a through street and noted that many teens used it last winter for
four-wheel drive practice when it became muddy. She further noted that people often parked
there to avoid paying at the Fairgrounds and inquired whether any fencing would be installed to
block it off.
Mr. Grubstick advised that they had received complaints about vehicles driving over the curb to
cross that lot. They noticed that there was a significant drop-off between the lot and the street
and were surprised that vehicles were using it. The Director of Public Works will examine
whether the lot should be fenced. The frontage on Valley Avenue was curved with no curb cut
for a driveway; however, the handicap ramp at the corner could be used as a driveway to get on
to the lot.
4.
