Chairperson Roberts advised that Wednesday, May 19, and another date in June may be <br />selected. She noted that inclusionary housing may be discussed on Thursday, May 6, and <br />noted that she may not be in attendance at that meeting. <br />Commissioner Maas advised that she may not be in attendance on May 6, as well <br />Shell Service Station Canopies <br />Chairperson Roberts noted that all the Shell service stations in town were adding an extra <br />two feet of bright yellow material on top of their canopies, surrounded by a red stripe. <br />She noted that a bright yellow stripe was added to the buildings as well and found it to be <br />very unattractive. <br />Commissioner Kameny noted that Shell service stations in Alameda and Berkeley were <br />also undergoing those changes. <br />Commissioner Maas noted that the Shell service station on First Street was losing its <br />small-town appearance. <br />Commissioner Arkin requested a response from staff with respect to the approval of these <br />additions. <br />Mr. Iserson advised that he would bring that information back to the Commission. <br />Vintage Hills Shopping Center <br />In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Arkin, Mr. Iserson replied that the Vintage <br />Hills Shopping Center item had not been scheduled yet. <br />Mohr-Martin Storm Drainage/Heritage Trees <br />Commissioner Fox noted that a meeting for the Martin Avenue neighbors would be held <br />on March 11, 2004 regarding heritage trees. She inquired whether the Heritage Tree <br />Board of Appeals is involved when the City recommends that heritage trees be removed. <br />She noted that she had been contacted by some of the neighbors. <br />Wes Jost noted that the project was part of Ponderosa Homes and was not a City project. <br />He added that the project was part of the storm drain that was being installed. He was <br />unsure about the process as it related to heritage trees. <br />Ms. Nerland noted that when a proposed development affected trees, it would be <br />evaluated by Planning staff and the Planning Commission.
