Commissioner Sullivan stated that all City issues would be open to public comments at the
Commission meetings.
Mr. Rasmussen advised that the Planning Commission has scheduled its next several General
Plan Update meetings to discuss land use issues. He indicated that future Commission meetings
would address housing density around the City; the East Pleasanton area, which includes the
quarries and the Staples Ranch; the North Pleasanton business park area; and all other potentially
developable areas including South Pleasanton. He then announced that a City Council-Planning
Commission General Plan workshop would be held on February 24, 2004 to address citywide
traffic issues.
James Frost, 5792 Hidden Creek, expressed concern regarding how the City would move
forward with all the information it has gathered. He commented that some people in the
audience had not seen the Summary Repor[ and felt that while the Report would not be changed,
it was appropriate for the Commission to bring up issues that it felt needed to be part of the
discussion so people can respond to it.
Commissioner Sullivan stated that the Commission had not discussed as a group what has been
brought up at the community meetings until this evening.
Rob Fjerstad, 3769 Smallwood Court, suggested that the Summary Report and other General
Plan documents be put on the City's website so it would be accessible to the public.
Mr. Rasmussen replied that this was planned to be done.
Commissioner Sullivan stated that there is currently a way to provide input on the website.
Commissioner Roberts added that some people have already given their comments on the City
website's message board. Commissioner Maas noted that the public could also e-mail the City
with their comments. Mr. Rasmussen indicated that the message board might be the best way for
the public to express their comments or contact him by phone or e-mail as well. He then gave
the City's website address as well as his own, indicating that he would periodically put together
all these comments and provide copies to the Commission and the Council.
Jon Harvey, 3790 Smallwood Court, stated that he recognized the difficulty involved in
gathering and organizing data. He wanted to know what the Commission would do in terms of
these classifications, e.g., will Kottinger Hills and Lund Ranch II remain as moderate issues or
would the Commission discuss them as substantial issues.
Commissioner Roberts replied that the Report will serve as background to the Commission's
discussions. She pointed out that a community meeting was held at the Vintage Hills Elementary
School to address the South Pleasanton area.
Commissioner Sullivan clarified that the Summary Report categories are simply reflective of the
frequency with which the issues were mentioned and not an indication of what the Commission
thinks.
PLANNING COMMISSION GENERAL PLAN UPDATE MINUTES, 2/19/2004 Page 3 of 10
