Mr. Iserson advised that this item would be sent to City Council. <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS <br />General Plan <br />Chairperson Roberts advised that Brian Swift had called her, stating that the progress on the <br />General Plan should be accelerated. He suggested that the Commission receive a series of <br />background reports starting in early February, possibly with meetings lasting two to three hours. <br />Mr. Iserson advised that based on the input received the previous night, staff would like to <br />develop a schedule and bring it back to the Commission at the next meeting. <br />Commissioner Maas suggested that the information be e-mailed to the Commissioners. <br />Mr. Iserson advised that the background reports would give the information and would allow the <br />Commission to identify the issues. <br />Chairperson Roberts believed that land use and its involvement with traffic should be the first <br />issue to be discussed and added that the Housing Commission would be working on these issues <br />side by side with the Planning Commission. <br />Commissioner Fox believed that the issue of new commercial uses and resulting traffic increase <br />__ was important and noted that she did not see much land left for office and commercial uses. <br />Commissioner Sullivan noted that issue would dovetail with future traffic workshops. <br />Commissioner Sullivan advised that he would like a clarification of this process and the <br />projected timeline. <br />Livermore General Plan/Traffic Issues <br />Commissioner Fox noted that after 20 months, Livermore is ready to approve its General Plan. <br />She believed that Livermore's solutions to cut-through traffic would provide valuable <br />information to Pleasanton. She added that she had e-mailed Livermore's Traffic Engineer and <br />inquired how Livermore dealt with the traffic issues similar to Pleasanton's. <br />Commissioner Sullivan advised that he would like to see how Livermore came up with some of <br />their traffic numbers. <br />Commissioner Fox advised that the two major features of Livermore's Circulation Element were <br />to revitalize downtown and to eliminate or constrain cut-through traffic.
