pL£ AS&NTON ¢,ty <br /> o Staff Report <br /> <br /> March 1, 2005 <br /> Planning Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: General Plan Status and Schedule <br /> <br />PURPOSE: To present a status report regarding the General Plan Update process and to <br /> receive Council input regarding the proposed schedule and content of the <br /> General Plan. <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> Staff recommends the Council consider the proposed General Plan work <br /> plan and schedule, and approach to sustainability issues, and provide input. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: At the conclusion of the Special Meeting of the City Council on January 25, <br /> 2005, the City Manager indicated sta£f would present to the City Council a <br /> revised work plan and schedule for the completion of the General Plan. This <br /> report provides the City Council with an overview of the General Plan <br /> update process to date and the suggested schedule for completion. This <br /> report also suggests an approach for covering issues related to sustainability <br /> in the General Plan. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />PROGRESS ON THE GENERAL PLAN UPDATE <br /> <br />On April 15, 2003, the City Council directed staff to begin preparation of a comprehensive <br />update of the City's General Plan which had been last updated and adopted in 1996.
