In the undeveloped space at the northwest comer of the building, a landscaped courtyard with
access from the rear lobby is proposed. This area could be utilized for weddings, memorials,
Veteran's ceremonies, and community gatherings. For security, the courtyard would be gated
on both the southwest and northeast sides of the facility. A dumpster enclosure is also proposed
at the northeast exterior comer of the facility, out of public view to enable easy access for
garbage removal.

Proposed improvements which will affect the exterior of the building include the following:

I. Main Entry: New stairs and landing, and a new handicap accessible ramp with
surrounding stucco wall.

2. South Porch Entry: New landing, stairs with metal handrails, and handicap accessible
ramp; new lighting.

3. North Elevation: New landing, stairs, and handicap accessible ramp with metal
handrails; new concrete walk; new storage enclosure with tile roof and wood doors
(actually located on the north-facing wall onthe west side of the facility).

4. Rear Yard: New garden courtyard; new built-in barbecue; new storage enclosure; new
equipment screen; new fascia, stuccoed and painted to match building.

5. Trash Enclosure: New enclosure attached to northeast comer of building with stucco
walls, tile roof, and metal gates.

6. Building Sign: Bronze letters on new ramp wall north of main entry.

7. Perimeter Fencing: Partial wood fence, partial stucco wall along west property line; new
stucco wall along north property line; new gates.

No changes to the building's basic design, form, and detailing are proposed, nor will there be
any changes to the existing window treatment. Colors and materials will match the existing.
Construction of the building will be according to the State Historic Building Code, which can
avoid strict compliance with today's Building Code in order to maintain the historic integrity of
the building.

Case No. PDR-402 Planning Commission
Page - 3 -
