pL£AS&NTON City Council Staff Report March 1, 2005 Public Works Department SUBJECT: AMENDMENT TO THE REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT WITH GREENBRIAR HOMES COMMUNITIES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF INFRASTRUCTURE RELATED TO THE REALIGNMENT OF VINEYARD AVENUE STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the meeting of March 1, 2005: 1. Approve the attached Amendment No. 1 to the Reimbursement Agreement with Greenbriar Homes Communities (Exhibit "A") for the cost of constructing infrastructure for realignment of Vineyard Avenue, including the cost of consulting engineering services in support of construction activities, and appropriating $770,000 from the Vineyard Avenue Corridor Specific Plan fee account for this purpose. 2. Authorize the City Manager to sign the amendment. SUMMARY: The City Council and the Pleasanton Unified School District had expressed an interest in completing the realignment of Vineyard Avenue as proposed in the Vineyard Avenue Corridor Specific Plan in advance o£ residential d, evelopment within the Specific Plan area. Early completion of the Vineyard Avenue realignment was intended to facilitate construction of the Neal Elementary School within the Vineyard Avenue Corridor Specific Plan area and to facilitate the alignment for the new 230kV underground transmission line by PG&E along the northerly edge of the roadway. Previously, the City Council has approved agreements with Greenbriar Communities Homes by which Greenbriar would coordinate the construction of the infrastructure improvements for the realignment o£ Vineyard Avenue and, in turn, be reimbursed, primarily from funds from the Pleasanton Unified School District ($4.16 M).
