Commissioner Lutz advised that he supports the project as presented. He is convinced the trip
calculation was done in a conservative manner, but he is very uneasy about going against the City
Traffic Engineer. He also supports the planter boxes and the original architectural design.

.

Chair Barker is also uneasy about going against the City Traffic Engineer's recommendation of a
conservative number. She doesn't think Mr. Van Gelder is suggesting to take out too much, but to
take out enough just in case. Otherwise, Chair Barker supports the project.

Commissioner Wright motioned, seconded by Commissioner McGuirk, to recommend to the
City Council approval of Case PUD-81-30-65D for design review approval of two suites hotels,
subject to the conditions listed in Exhibit B, with the following modifications:

Delete Condition 4.
Delete Condition 5.

ROLL CALL VOTE

AYES:
NOES:
ABSENT:
ABSTAIN:

Commissioners Dove, Lutz, McGuirk, Wright, and Chair Barker
None
Commissioner Cooper
None

Resolution No. PC 96-75 was entered approving to the City Council Case PUD-81-30-65D, as
motioned.

. MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS

Commissioner Lutz inquired when the General Plan would be distributed. Staff indicated Mr.
Rasmussen is still editing the final version. Commissioner Lutz also commented on his concern that
the Safeway sign appeal to the City Connr.il was greatly modified from what was presented to the
Planning Commission. Staff commented that the real issue for the appeal was the variance which
deals with the number of signs allowed and the sign itself was only slightly modified.

.

Planning Commission Minutes

Page 8

October 9, 1996
