They have been working with the
Hacienda Owners Association and have agreed to the conditions of approval.

Commissioner Wright stated he likes the color board presented and the design of the campus. He
did inquire if the officials knew the BART construction is one year behind schedule. Me. Giannini
advised there are 100 extra spaces anticipated without even considering the number of employees
who may use BART. As the facility is increased, they will increase the parking as well.

Commissioner Wright inquired if there would be an opportunity for new employees to come from
Pleasanton. Greg Canfield, 2400 Bisso Lane, Concord, advised that anyone who would like to apply
may, and they do anticipate having to hire more employees after they relocate the Concord facility
to Pleasanton.

Commissioner Cooper wanted to thank the Boehringer Mannheim officials for agreeing to the "no
voluntary release" concept.

Commissioner Barker inquired if the corporation would be agreeable to letting the local soccer league
use their undeveloped land for soccer fields. Mr. Canfield advised that he did not know how long
the vacant land would be available, although he was not opposed to bringing up the subject with
management.

Commissioner Dove requested that there be sufficient handicapped parking for employees and visitors
close to all the entries.

PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED

Commissioners Cooper and Wright expressed their thoughts that the application is a well designed
project. Commissioner McGuirk and Chairman Lutz also are happy to have this company locating
in Pleasanton's Hacienda Business Park.

CommiS!Jioner McGuirk motioned, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, approving Case PVD-
81-30-64D, subject to the conditions listed in Exhibit B.

Planning Commission Minutes

Page 6

July 24, 1996
