Liane Schauf/Bodvlines Massal!:e & Fitness
Application for a conditional use permit to establish a massage therapy studio to be located at
164-A Main Street. Zoning for the property is C-C (Central Commercial), Downtown
Revitalization, Core Area Overlay District.

Me. Iserson presented the staff report on the application for a conditional use permit to operate a
therapeutic massage facility at 164 Main Street, Suite A. This property is zoned C-C (Central
Commercial) in the Downtown Revitalization District and as such requires a conditional use permit.

The applicant has requested that she be allowed to sublet the extra room to another massage
therapist. Staff stated they have not experienced any problems from the previously-approved
therapist businesses. The businesses don't create a lot of noise nor demand a large amount of
parking. Three parking spaces are required for this business, and there is a parking lot with eight
spaces available. There is also sufficient on-street parking in this location. Staff feels the operation
of this business will not impact the surrounding businesses and as such staff recommends approval
of this application.

PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED

. Liane Schauf Ainsley, 3890 Mt. McKinley, represented her application. She advised that her recent
marriage has changed her name, as noted. She advised that she agrees to the conditions of the staff
report. In response to Commissioner Cooper, she advised that she already has an established practice
and is simply moving her practice to another location.

PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED

Commissioner Wright motioned, seconded by Commissioner McGuirk, making the conditional
use permit findings and approving Case UP-96-36, subject to the conditions listed in Exhibit B.

ROLL CALL VOTE

AYES:
NOES:
ABSENT:
ABSTAIN:

Commissioners Barker, Cooper, McGuirk, Wright and Chairman Lutz
None
None
None

Resolution No. PC 96-54 was entered approving UP-96-36, as motioned.

.

Planning Commission Minutes

Page 2

July 24, 1996
