FISCAL IMPACT

The annual compensation for the initial two-year term is estimated to be $193,455. The
previous contract amount was $156,344.47. Due to changes in Prevailing Wage Laws, this
contract for services calls for thc contracted agency to pay prevailing wages on all street
sweeping services under this agreement, which led to the increase in thc cost for providing
this service. The potential two-year renewal option would increase the compensation by the
Consumer Price Index factor for thc San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area. Thc monthly payment
is estimated at $16,121. In addition to the sweeping costs, the CiW will pay for dumping fees
that are based on the weight of thc debris collected each month. These fees arc estimated to be
approximately $45,000 per year. Funding for annual street sweeping services is currently
under-budgeted for a new prevailing wage project and will be addressed as part of the midyear
review of fiscal year 2005 and the upcoming two-year budget.

Respectfully Submitted,

Rob Wilson Susan Rossi Nelson Fialho
Director of Public Works Director of Finance City Manager

Attachment A: Street Sweeping Contract
Attachment B: Summary of Open Bids

SR 05:049
