pL£AS&NTON city Council <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> October 5, 2004 <br /> Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF PLANS AND AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR <br /> LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE FIRST STREET_ <br /> UNDERGROUND UTILITIES DISTRICT <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br /> meeting of October 5, 2004: <br /> <br /> 1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br /> <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the construction contract for the <br /> subject project to Richard A. Heaps, Electrical Contactor Inc. of <br /> Sacramento, California, for a low bid of $480,342. <br /> <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above contract. <br /> <br /> 4. Authorize an increase in the construction contingency to 15 percent <br /> of the construction costs in the amount of $72,051. <br /> <br /> 5. Authorize an additional appropriation of $140,113 from the General <br /> Fund to the subject project. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: Plans and specifications were prepared for the subject project. The <br /> project was advertised and a total of four bids were received. The low <br /> bid of $480,342 was received from Richard A. Heaps, Electrical <br /> Contractor Inc. of Sacramento, California. A summary of all bids <br /> received is attached. The project provides for the replacement of street <br /> lighting currently mounted on PG&E poles that will be removed as part <br /> of the undergounding of overhead utilities along First Street <br /> (Underground Utility District, UUD 02-01). <br /> <br />SR:04:254 <br />Page 1 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
