THE CITY OF 4K <br />pL£AShNTONo <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> February 15, 2005 <br /> Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SERVICE <br /> LATERALS TO PRIVATE PROPERTIES FOR THE FIRST STREET <br /> UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT (CIP PROJECT NO. 025071B) <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br /> meeting of February 15, 2004: <br /> <br /> 1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br /> <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the contract for the subject <br /> project to Prism Engineering of Campbell, California for a low bid <br /> of $229,000. <br /> <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above contract. <br /> <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Public Works to approve and execute <br /> contract change orders for a contingency amount not-to-exceed <br /> $32,000 for necessary related project work. <br /> <br /> 5. Authorize additional funding, including the contingency, from the <br /> General Fund Street CIP, "Annual Resurfacing of Various Streets, <br /> Project No. 035003," in the amount of $286,000 to complete the <br /> utility conversion project. <br /> <br /> 6. Authorize the Director of Public Works to negotiate equitable terms <br /> for reimbursement of City incurred utility conversion costs on <br /> commercial properties. <br /> <br />SR 05:048 <br />Page 1 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
