pL£ AS&NTON, CityCouncil <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> February 15, 2005 <br /> City Manager <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Analysis of Commissioner Absences for the Period of <br /> July 1, 2004 through December 31, 2004 <br /> <br />STAFF <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council review the attached <br /> commissioner responses and accept the information provided. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: The City's Municipal Code establishes attendance requirements <br /> for commissioners at regularly held City commission meetings. <br /> As part of the attendance process, the City Manager is required <br /> to request all commissioners whose absences exceed those as <br /> set forth in the Municipal Code to provide a written response <br /> detailing the reasons for their absences. This report is being <br /> submitted in accordance with the required procedures. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />Recently, staff reviewed attendance reports from the various City commissions for the <br />period of July 1, 2004 through December 31, 2004. In accordance with procedures, the <br />City Manager notified certain commissioners that their absences during this period <br />equaled or exceeded the one-third limitation established by City procedures. The <br />commissioners were contacted and their responses are attached for Council (under <br />separate cover) for its review. <br /> <br />Section 2 of the Ordinance requires the City Council to determine if a member's reasons <br />for the absences were justified.
