THE CITY OF 4H <br />pL£ AS&NTON c,t , Council <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> February 15, 2005 <br /> Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: REVIEW AND REJECT ALL BIDS FOR THE SANTOS <br /> RANCH ROAD PUMP STATION AND WATER FACILITY <br /> IMPROVEMENT PROJECT, CIP PROJECT NO. 991035 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at <br /> the meeting of February 15, 2005: <br /> <br /> 1. Review and reject all bids received for the subject project. <br /> <br /> 2. Direct staff to revise the project design and reduce the scope <br /> of work to reduce project costs and rebid the project. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: Bids have been received for the subject project and staff is <br /> recommending the rejection of all bids. The bids are significantly <br /> higher than the current budgeted amount for the project and staff is <br /> recommending that the project be re-designed and modified to <br /> reduce the scope of work while still providing the long-range <br /> functionality required for these water booster pump stations. The re- <br /> design work will include value engineering to include a review of <br /> utilizing less costly construction materials and the use of less labor- <br /> intensive construction methods to bring the project more in line with <br /> the programmed budget. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Santos Ranch Pump Station Project (CIP No. 991035) includes the reconstruction of <br />three water-booster pumping stations located along Santos Ranch Road westerly of <br /> <br />SR 05:036 <br />Page 1 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
