9VfHE CITYOF 4G <br />DL£ AS&NTON City Council <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> February 15, 2005 <br /> Public Works Depattment <br /> <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AWARD OF <br /> CONTRACT FOR T}IE CONSTRUCTION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL <br /> AT TItE INTERSECTION OF BERNAL AVENUE AND FIRE <br /> STATION 4 DRIVEWAY <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br /> meeting of February 15, 2005. <br /> <br /> 1) Approve plans and specifications for the project; <br /> <br /> 2) Award the contract for the subject projects to the lowest <br /> responsible bidder Dan Electric; <br /> <br /> 3) Authorize the Director of Public Works to approve and execute <br /> contract change orders for a contingency amount not to exceed <br /> fifteen percent (15%) of the contract amount for necessary related <br /> subject project work. <br /> <br /> 4) Appropriate $200,000 from CIP Projects Nos. 045054 ($31,000), <br /> 035020 ($49,000), and 025019 ($120,000), to complete funding for <br /> the project. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: The project consists of the construction of a new traffic signal at the <br /> intersection of Bernal Avenue and the Fire Station 4 exit driveway. <br /> Staff recommends award of the construction contract to the low <br /> bidder, Dan Electric, for the installation of the traffic signal for the <br /> low bid amoum of $137,424.00.
