City of Pleasanton <br />Application to amend Chapter 18.08 (Defmitions), 18.28 (Agricultural District), 18.32 (R-l <br />One-Family Residential Districts), 18.36 (RM Multi-Family Residential Districts), 18.40 <br />(Office District), 18.44 (Commercial Districts), 18.48 (Industrial Districts), 18.52 (Q Rock, <br />Sand and Gravel Extraction District), 18.56 (Public Institutional District), and 18.104 <br />(Home Occupations) of the Pleasanton Municipal Code to prohibit firearm sales in the <br />residential districts, the Office District, and Public and Institutional District, to <br />conditionally permit firearm sales in the industrial districts, Regional Commercial Districts, <br />Central Commercial District, and Service Commercial District, and to conditionally permit <br />firearm sales as an ancillary use at a rifle or pistol range in the Agricultural District, and <br />Rock, Sand, and Gravel Extraction District. <br /> <br />Renee Perko, City Attorney's Office, presented the staff report. She advised the Commission <br />that the City Council first addressed this ordinance in July 1996 and again in July 1997. The <br />City Council is tentatively scheduled to review the proposed ordinance in February 1998, <br />following the Commission's recommendation. <br /> <br />Ms. Perko stated that the proposed ordinance has several components including zoning <br />regulations, permits for local firearm dealers issued by the Police Department, and the <br />prohibition of the sale of "Saturday Night Specials," also known as "junk guns."
