PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED <br /> <br />Bruce Wetter, 2363 Leimert Boulevard, Oakland, stated that there is a real benefit to having swim <br />lessons in a back yard of a home. He noted his child had previously taken lessons at a pool in a large <br />environment, and that the lessons that Ms. Harpster has taught have been far more valuable. He also <br />stated that Ms. Harpster has done a good job of educating clients to be sensitive to the neighborhood <br />issues. <br /> <br />Amy Mouch, 8018 Dorothea Court, Pleasanton, stated that Ms. Harpster has been strict about getting <br />students in and out of the lessons in a timely way. She noted that Ms. Harpster has explained the <br />rules to her and that she is very serious about not disturbing the neighbors. <br /> <br />Deanna Ryan, 4491 Guilford Place, Livermore, stated that her child has arthritis and it is difficult to <br />find a warm pool, especially during the latter part of the year for her child to swim. She noted that <br />these lessons are very important for her child and that she will comply with all the rules and <br />conditions that have been set forth. <br /> <br />Becky Duret, 4318 2nd Street, stated that Ms. Harpster's lessons offer a level of flexibility that she <br />doesn't believe she could have found elsewhere. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Jeanette Banks, Vintage Hills area resident, stated that Ms. Harpster has instructed herself and her 20- <br />month old child. She stated that she would take her child to the lessons in a stroller if necessary. <br />She commented that she always found a parking space in the driveway when she arrived for lessons. <br /> <br />Stacy Bourg, 35936 Plumeria Way, Fremont, stated that as a working mother she appreciates the <br />flexibility that Ms. Harpster has provided with evening and Saturday classes. <br /> <br />Polly Clark, 3316 Hartwell Court, stated that she was present to support Ms. Harpster and that she <br />is also speaking on behalf of her in-laws, Chris and Carol Clark, who are Ms. Harpster's neighbors. <br />She reported that her daughter has done very well with Ms. Harpster's lessons. She also noted that <br />she has been told by her in-laws that when she visits their home she should park in their driveway <br />and not across the street. <br /> <br />Denise Hackett, Castro Valley, stated that she has known Ms. Harpster for fourteen years, and that <br />she has always worked well with children. She stated that there needs to be support for jobs where <br />women can work at home. <br /> <br />Elaine White, 6558 Hanover Court, spoke in support of Ms. Harpster and the flexibility her lessons <br />provide for scheduling. <br /> <br />Lynn Krilly, Pleasanton, stated that she has been advised of the rules.
