THE CITY OF <br /> <br />J)L£AS&NTON, <br /> <br />6E <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br /> January 18, 2005 <br />Deputy City Manager <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br /> <br />UPDATE REGARDING ACTIVITIES OF THE KOTTINGER PLACE <br />TASK FORCE <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Authorize the Kottinger Place Task Force to continue its work exploring <br />development opportunities for Kottinger Place including the solicitation of <br />proposals from developers and/or consultants to provide more detailed <br />development and funding alternatives. <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br /> <br />This report provides a summary of the recent activities of the Kottinger <br />Place Task Force. In addition the report includes a recommendation to <br />solicit proposals from non-profit housing developers and/or consultants to <br />provide more detailed financial and development options. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />At your November 4, 2003 meeting, the Council authorized staff to begin exploring the potential <br />for the expansion and/or renovation of Kottinger Place which is a 50-unit affordable senior <br />facility owned by the Housing Authority of the City of Pleasanton located at 240 Kottinger <br />Drive. The study will also review the potential of cooperating with Pleasanton Gardens toward <br />a joint development. Pleasanton Gardens is a 40-unit affordable senior development located at <br />251 Kottinger Drive. <br /> <br />To assist with this project, in February 2004, the Council approved the formation of a ten <br />member Kottinger Place Task Force (Task Force). The Task Force's membership is comprised <br />of 5 at-large members, 2 members from the Housing Commission, 2 members from the Board at <br /> <br />SR 05:026 <br />Page 1 <br /> <br /> <br />
