Resolution No. PC-96-60
Page 12
39. A hazardous materials management plan shall be prepared pursuant to the City's Hazard-
ous Materials Ordinance and the Uniform Fire Code. The plan shall be submitted to the
Fire Chief at least two (2) weeks prior to the building's occupancy.

40. The property or business owner shall submit to the Fire Chief calculations which show
the concentration of the worst-case spill from the most toxic and/or hazardous material
released at the point of discharge to the atmosphere. The discharge calculation shall
show the percentage of the "Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH) concen-
tration limit that is being released, to show the maximum exposure level that could possi-
bly be discharged from this facility. If this level is unacceptable in terms of risk to the
public's health and safety, a scrubber for the ventilation system shall be installed, subject
to the review and approval of the Fire Chief and Director of Building Inspection.

41. All hazardous materials including solids, liquids, and gases, in either the pure, processed,
or waste state, shall be used and stored inside the building covered by this development
plan approval.

42. NFP A placards indicating the relative hazard of the facility shall be posted at all times at
the entrances to this building. The placards shall be posted in a location that is clearly
visible by firefighters.

43. The property owner agrees to adhere to the stipulation that there be "no-voluntary-
release" of hazardous wastes into the atmosphere or sanitary sewer, and accepts the fol-
lowing terms:

a. Fume hoods shall not be used for the routine evaporation of volatile materials.

b. Waste containing toxic chemicals, as determined by the City, shall not be disposed
of in the sanitary sewer system.

c. When engaged in dishwashing or equipment cleaning activities when there is reason
to believe that contamination with toxic or radioactive substances has occurred, pre-
washing of the dishes or equipment to remove substantially all of the toxic or radio-
active material, and the disposal of this waste stream as toxic waste, shall be carried
out.
