Resolution No. PC-96-56
Page 8

Fire

40. A hazardous material management plan, prepared pursuant to the City's Hazardous
Material Ordinance, shall be submitted to the Fire Chief at the time that any building
permit application is applied for. Said plan shall list all toxic and hazardous materials
proposed to be used and stored at the site by Fire Hazard Classification and give specific
amounts. This information shall be used to determine required occupancy classification
of the proposed buildings. In addition, the hazardous materials management plan shall
strive to incorporate the following provisions to the greatest extent possible:

a.) Fume hoods should not be used for evaporation purposes of volatile substances.

b.) The disposal of any radioactive substances in the sanitary sewer system shall be
avoided. Any radioactive material which is disposed in the sanitary sewer system
shall not result in any measurable increase in radioactivity in the wastewater
stream. The City recommends that radioactive materials be stored for a period
equal to or greater than 20 half-lives, to assure that less than one one-millionth of
the original quantity of radioactivity is present. When long lived isotopes ('H,
l4e) are present in waster, no drain disposal is allowed. All radioactive materials
must be disposed of by a licensed, reputable firm specializing in such operations.
No releases ofradioactive materials should take place into the atmosphere.

c.) Waste containing toxic chemicals, as determined by the City, should not be
disposed of in the sanitary sewer system.

d.) When engaged in dishwashing or equipment cleaning activities when there is
reason to believe that contamination with toxic or radioactive substances has
occurred, prewashing of the dishes or equipment to remove substantially all of the
toxic or radioactive material, and disposal of this waste stream as toxic waste,
shall be carried out.

41. The applicant shall post address numerals on the building so as to be plainly visible from
all adjoining streets or driveways during both daylight and night time hours. Tenant
spaces shall be identified as determined by the City.

42. The development shall meet all requirements of the Pleasanton Fire Code (Chapter 20.24
of the Pleasanton Municipal Code).

43. The site shall be kept free of fire hazards from the start of construction to final inspection.
