PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. PC-96-33 RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL CERTIFY THE FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT FOR THE 1996 PLEASANTON GENERAL PLAN UPDATE WHEREAS, the City Council appointed in June, 1993, a fifteen-member General Plan Steering Committee to coordinate a comprehensive General Plan update; and WHEREAS, the Steering Committee initiated its work by conducting a series of nine "town meetings," the purpose of which was to solicit input from the public regarding issues which should be addressed in the update; and WHEREAS, over 300 people attended these meetings; and WHEREAS, based upon input received at the town meetings, the Steering Committee formed six sub-committees consisting initially of a total of more than 200 members; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the sub-committees, where were chaired by Steering Committee members, was to study, discuss, and formulate recommendations for updating the General Plan; and WHEREAS, the six sub-committees consisted of: I. Land UselGrowth 2. Circulation/Growth 3. HousinglGrowth 4. Conservation/Open Space/Parks/Environment/Growth 5. Public Services and FacilitieslGrowth 6. Economic and Fiscal/Growth; and WHEREAS, an "Assembly," consisting of all sub-committee members, was also established to allow for joint feedback; and WHEREAS, more than 1 00 sub-committee meetings were conducted between March and October, 1994, which meetings produced a series of working documents; and WHEREAS, during the sub-committee recommendations phase, the Steering Committee met regularly in an effort to coordinate the overall planning phase; and WHEREAS, a continuous exchange of information between the sub-committees took place through the co-chairs at Steering Committee meetings; and
