THE CITY OF <br /> <br />pL£AS, NTONo <br /> <br />41 <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br /> January 4, 2005 <br />Department of Public Works <br /> Finance Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT WITH <br />CALLAHAN PROPERTIES TO DESIGN AND CONSTRUCT A <br />PORTION OF A 16-INCH LOOP WATER MAIN IN THE CITY'S <br />BONDE ZONE <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at its meeting on <br />January 4, 2005: <br /> <br />Approve the attached reimbursement agreement with Callahan Properties for <br />a not-to-exceed amount of $135,000 for the City's pro-rata share of the costs <br />to design and install a portion of a 16-inch water main to be constructed in <br />the eastern portion of the City's water service area. <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br /> <br />The City's Water Master Plan Update (WMPU), provided by Camp, Dresser <br />and McKee (CDM) Engineers, was completed in 2003. The WMPU <br />identified a number of immediate, mid and long-term pipeline, pump station <br />and storage improvement projects to be constructed within the City's water <br />system through buildout of the City. One of the recommended <br />improvements included constructing a 16-inch water main in the easterly <br />portion of the City's water service area to connect the City's Bonde water <br />pressure zone in the Vineyard Hills and new Vineyard Specific Plan area to <br />the lower Ruby Hill water pressure zone. <br /> <br />The reimbursement agreement (Attachment 1) pays for the design of the <br />total recommended pipeline and the City's pro-rata share of constructing a <br />portion of the total pipeline, shown as Phase II in the attached Exhibit A. <br />Phase II (approximately 1525 linear feet of the total pipeline project length <br />of 3600 lineal feet) is being bid separately to enable this portion to be <br /> <br />SR:05:009 <br />Page 1 of 8 <br /> <br /> <br />
