VII. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION <br />Project m1t1gations recommended by the project environmental consultants are included <br />throughout the Specific Plan text. Those pertaining to land use issues are provided in the Land <br />Use Chapter , those relating to circulation are found in the Circulation Chapter, etc . Mitigations <br />relating to the natural environment and archaeological/historical resources are presented below . <br />A. ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECTIVES <br />1 . Protect special status plant and wildlife species . <br />2 . Permanently preserve significant woodland , riparian habitat areas , wetland s, and <br />wildlife corridors. <br />3. Preserve and protect existing heritage trees, wherever possible. <br />4. Protect all known and discovered significant archaeological and historical <br />resources within the Plan Area . <br />B. WETLANDS <br />All grading plans shall include a minimum 100-foot setback from intermittent drainages and <br />other seasonal wetlands that are not identified for development in the Specific Plan. The <br />wetlands identified for development in the Specific Plan include the northern ponion of the <br />westernmost drainage from approximately 300 feet south of the existing alignment of Vineyard <br />Avenue to Arroyo del Valle to accommodate road crossings and residential development on <br />Lots 18 and 22, the northern ponion of the central drainage from the existing alignment of <br />Vineyard Avenue to Arroyo del Valle to accommodate the proposed residential development on <br />Lot 18 and the school on Lot 19 , a 300-foot section of the drainage on Lots 19, 20 , and 27 south <br />of the existing alignment of Vineyard A venue to accommodate residential development on <br />Lot 27 , a 60-foot section of the drainage on Lots 19 , 20, and 27 near the Plan Area 's northern <br />boundary at Lot 19 to accommodate the realigned Vineyard Avenue crossing , and the majority <br />of the easternmost drainage that ends in a seep south of the existing alignment of Vineyard <br />A venue on Lot 28 to accommodate residential development. <br />Measures to minimize erosion and runoff into seasonal drainages shall also be included in all <br />grading plans . Appropriate runoff controls such as berms, storm gates, detention basins, <br />overflow collection areas , filtration systems, and sediment traps shall be implemented to control <br />siltation and the potential discharge of pollutants into preserved drainages . <br />86
