CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, ALAMEDA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 04-093 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL A VACANT <br />CITY COUNCIL SEAT, ESTABLISHING CERTAIN POLICIES FOR THE JUNE <br />7, 2005 SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND REQUESTING <br />CONSOLIDATION WITH OTHER ELECTIONS IN ALAMEDA COUNTY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under Pleasanton Municipal Code, Section 2.04.030, the City Council is to call a <br /> Special Election to fill a vacancy on the City Council; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City Councilmember Jennifer Hosterman has been elected to the office of Mayor, <br /> leaving two years on her term as City Councilmember; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the next regularly scheduled election date more than 114 days from the date of this <br /> resolution is June 7, 2005; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 10400 of the Elections Code allows a City to request consolidation of its <br /> local municipal election with other elections in the County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 13307 of the Elections Code authorizes the City Council to establish <br /> certain charges for handling candidate election materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council has previously considered the options available under the above- <br />mentioned section pertaining to the length of the candidates' statements and <br />setting rules and regulations for mailing additional materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council previously established a procedure to resolve a tie vote should a <br /> tie vote occur. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br />The City Council hereby calls for a special election to be held on June 7, 2005 to <br />fill the remaining City Council term of Jennifer Hosterman. <br /> <br /> <br />
